UNBOXING: Benefit (BDJ March Box)

It was a gamble when I subscribed to BDJ Box in December. At the time, January and February boxes were already sold out, which meant that if I wanted to subsribe at all, I had to pay at least two months in advance. Still, I thought that it would be worth it.

I subcribed for the maximum I could get from BDJ Box: 6 months subscription. Meaning, from March until August, I would be receiving surprises from BDJ.

Subscribing to 6 boxes was the cheapest, I thought. I factored in the possibility that I would like the first box and would want subsequent ones. I also factored in the fact that BDJ Boxes are often sold out 2 months in advance. So if I waited to see if I wanted the 1st box and I did, I would have wait for another two months to get my 2nd box! That’d be too much of a wait for me. Also, I thought that if I didn’t like the 1st box, I might get to like the 2nd box or probably like the 3rd, and so on. I was all positive at the time.

So I got my first BDJ Box this March. I was excited because the featured product for the month was Benefit! Yay! So to share my happiness and excitement, here’s the great unboxing.

BDJ Box April

3ml Porefessional PRO Balm (worth Php 1,600 @ 22ml)
2ml-ish Stay Don’t Stray (worth Php 1,400.00 10ml)
5ml Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow (worth Php 1,900 @ 30ml)
2 pcs of 1g-ish Stay Flawless (worth Php 1,900 @ 15.5g)
1.5ml Under My Spell Noelle Fragrance (worth Php 2,000 @ 30ml)
1g-ish Agent Zero Shine (worth Php 1,600 @ 7g)

BDJ March Box also contained 5 stickers for BDJ’s Stick It To Win It promo with the caption: You don’t need a mirror to know you’re gorgeous. I liked the fact that the font sizes were bigger on YOU, MIRROR, and GORGEOUS. It was a statement all on its own and it’s encouraging.

Finally, a brochure giving a brief description and pricing of the Benefit products in the box was also provided.

Despite that excitement I felt when I received my first ever BDJ Box and the fact that Benefit was featured, I was a bit dismayed by the samples. They are samples, much small in size and volume that their usual counterpart.

Granted, Benefit products are quite pricey and carry their weight in gold. They are quality products and considering they’re market price, for the value of a BDJ Box at Php 580, the samples should already be worth the it.

In any case, with the unboxing out of the way, let me leave you now so that I can already try them. I’m especially excited with Porefessional PRO Balm, Stay Don’t Stray, and Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow. I’ve never tried pore erasers and eye primers before, and I’m always keen on trying out different foundations.

The Gamer

I love reading mangas. Who doesn’t? As much as I love animes when I was young, I have found a new love for mangas as well. Similar to loving a movie but loving the book more because the latter has more depth and allows you to imagine.

For those who do not know, manga is the Japanese word for comics. In Korea, they call it manhwa. You read mangas from right to left while manhwas from left to right.

There are many websites that provide manga translation–scanlation is the more appropriate term though since the providers scan raw mangas and then edit the scans in order to translate them. My go to site would be mangafox because it was the first manga website I found and because I am familiar with it now. As to the variety and number of mangas it provides, I am in no position to comment on.

I have several mangas that I am monitoring. But recently, they have either slowed down their pace or completed the series so that I have no new issue to read. Sometimes, I get tired of the manga and so stop reading it altogether.

So the other night, with no new issues released of the mangas I follow, i decided to look for a new one to follow. I browsed at the Most Popular list. I checked out The Gamer and was instantly hooked. The gist is this: what would you do if you are a gamer, or have the qualities and abilities of a RPG character, in real life? The main character in this series is just that. He has the ability to see the levels of other people and depending on what he does, he earns experience points, skills, and then levels up. The series is new and has about at least 20 chapters. If not of the lateness of the hour, I would not have just stopped at chapter 6. Still, given the fact that I only intended to read one chapter and yet I reached chapter 6, it already says a lot.

So far, the turn out of the chapters is regular and quick, about one per week. I hope the providers do not get tired. The story is interesting enough and comedic in some respects. Do I recommend reading it after having read 6 chapters? Yes!

Let me know what you think about The Gamer. Do you have other mangas you would like to share? What are they?

Starting Over Again

I have decided to begin blogging again. However, it won’t be the same way as I blogged before, treating my blog as a diary and dumpsite for my cluttered thoughts. This time, I plan to be more focused.

Maybe because I see the potential of blogs this time than when its idea was just being introduced to people. I have read of people become rich enough through blogging that they can quit their job. I have seen people become famous like celebrities, attending functions and stuff, because of blogging. But the best of it is learning of blogs that helped changed other people’s lives, not just the blogger’s own.

I hope to achieve at least one of these things and more. Frankly, and for my own selfish reasons as I did years ago when I began blogging, I hope that blogging again will lessen the stress that I have and help rekindle my creativity, which I think I had so much of when I was younger.

But like I said, this time, I will be more focused. I will refrain from dumping whatever comes to mind. If need be, my not-so-important thoughts will be placed in a different blog, an old blog.

For now, I am studying how I should go about my new blog–what my style with be, the design, my tone, the length my entries, the categories I will be working on, etc. In fact, I have been “researching” to know what I can about blogging. I am actually relearning what I learned before and adding a few more along the way. It has been a week now. I haven’t decided, yet. So again, for now, I will be putting my thoughts on this new blog here.

My greatest hurdle, if I have already narrowed down my categories, would be to draft and publish my first entry. How should it be like? Under what category should it be? Or should I just start with hello? We will see… soon, I hope. From there, it will just be a matter of finding inspiration on the things I hope to share.
