Music Mondays: Uptown Funk (Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars)

A song that anyone will move their bodies, even your grandparents! And if you have the swag and the right kind of groove, then the dance will be worth watching.

There are a lot of videos on YouTube that use this song but the official music video is fun enough not to put in here. In case you haven’t watched it, then you’d be 325,995,+++th who’ll be watching it.

Uptown Funk by Mark Ronson ft. Bruno Mars

If you’re like me, you would have probably asked “Who/where is Mark Ronson?” He’s the guy riding the slow moving car. If you know who he is, then you might have commented that the song is more Bruno Mars than Mark Ronson. Well, a Google search showed me that Mark Ronson is a musician, DJ, singer, and record producer and that the Uptown Funk is one that “features Bruno Mars vocals”1. So maybe it’s the musician/DJ/record producer, not the singer, in Mark Ronson that was in play in this song. Maybe.

I think this song will become a classic, don’t you think?

As an added bonus, because I can’t get enough of it, here’s a neat choreography of Uptown Funk by none other than, Mega Jam:

New Home: Dear Friends, please take note :)

Hi guys! It’s been a year since I returned to blogging and after such time, knowing how easily bored I get, I realized that I can continue on blogging indefinitely. It’s become an outlet and a way for me to stay positive because as much as I can, I wanted to stay positive in all my posts.

If you’ve been following along with me for the past month, you’d know that I’ve been thinking of finally registering a domain and it’s just a matter of staying at WordPress.com, moving to WordPress.org (then I’d have to choose the hosting site), or jumping to Squarespace. With that, I finally decided on moving to WordPress.org, hosted and managed by GoDaddy.

It’s a new home though it feels just like a renovation because you won’t feel any difference except for the domain name and some color changes.

That having been said, please take note of my new home:

hellokt.co

From this day onward, my posts will be there. I appreciate very much having spent the last year with all of you, you’ve been sweet and encouraging in your comments and been generous in liking my posts.

I would like to continue with you still. So please follow the link above or follow me on Bloglovin’, on my FaceBook Page, via Twitter, or even through e-mail subscription so we can still keep in touch. 🙂

Music Mondays: Marvin Gaye (Charlie Puth feat. Meghan Trainor)

Have your ever encountered a song on the radio that reminds you so much of another song that you just can’t put your finger on it? It’s exactly what I felt when I heard this new song on the radio. It took me several replays of the song (different times) before it finally hit me! But before that, here’s today’s Music Monday first—

Marvin Gaye by Charlie Puth (feat. Meghan Trainor)

So, did you guess it? It’s similar to Ben E. King’s Stand By Me. When I finally got it, all I was mumbling was “so darling darling…” and I can’t even remember “stand” at the end of it. Anyway, it was too much not to share.

Going back to the featured song, who is Marvin Gaye? Well, a Google search revealed that Marvin Gaye is—was—a singer-songwriter back in the 60s, 70s, and early 80s. His popular hits include How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You), I Heard It Through The Grapevine, and What’s Going On.

What’s his connection with the song? I’m not sure, except maybe the phrase in the chorus—“Let’s Marvin Gaye get it on”—alludes to his hit song Let’s Get It On. Maybe. But regardless of what it really means, it doesn’t veer away from the fact that the melody is catchy and easy to listen to.
